Nebraska tight end Arik Gilbert, a former five-star recruit and two-time transfer, was arrested on Tuesday, August 29 on felony burglary charges in Lincoln. Now, only 17 days later, Gilbert has been arrested again.
This time, Gilbert was arrested in his hometown in Georgia and faces charges of obstruction of officers and smash-and-grab burglary.
The 21-year-old Gilbert is accused of robbing a local gas station and stealing over 150 — you guessed it — vape pens.

Gilbert began his career at LSU as the No. 1 tight end in the nation. After earning Freshman All-SEC honors, Gilbert transferred to the University of Georgia. Gilbert left Georgia in the middle of fall camp for “personal issues” before returning in 2022 for three games.
The incident comes at a time when Gilbert is waiting for approval from the NCAA for immediate eligibility in the 2023 season.
At this point, Gilbert has much bigger issues to focus on and hopefully he can get the help that he needs.
