Deshaun Watson could learn his fate for the 2022 NFL season this week with a hearing set to begin on Tuesday.
Judge Sue L. Robinson will oversee the hearing with Watson, the NFL, and NFL Players Association. And according to the early reports, we may not see Watson on the field for the Cleveland Browns this season.
Andrew Beaton of the Wall Street Journal reported the league will push for an indefinite suspension.
Beaton adds the NFL will want at least one full season for Watson’s suspension and will not settle for anything less than the full one-year mark.
Watson, who hasn’t played since 2020, signed a five-year, $230 million fully guaranteed contract with the Browns amidst the allegations facing Watson. Watson continues to deny the allegations against him, but has settled 20 of the 24 civil lawsuits he was facing.
