Delete. Your. Old. Tweets.
That’s been the memo to everyone for a while now with athletes like Josh Allen, Donte DiVincenzo, Ryan Rolison, and Josh Hader getting outed for homophobic, racist, and/or sexist tweets made during their teenage years. One would assume the message to clean up was received loud and clear after Hader went viral during his first All-Star Game appearance, but apparently not because we’ve got another case with Braves lefty Sean Newcomb.
Newcomb, of course, came one strike away from throwing a no hitter against the Dodgers Sunday. That should have been his story for the day. Instead someone went through his Twitter history and discovered some unflattering stuff that includes N-bombs:

And liberal usage of the term “fag:”

Braves reporter Kelsey Wingert reports Newcomb became aware of getting Hader’d after the game. He and the Braves are now in damage control mode:
Sean Newcomb said he saw the tweets resurfaced when he was on his phone after today’s game and he wanted to get ahead of it and apologize, so he asked the #Braves if he could meet with media now to issue statement.

Some tweets from 2011 have surfaced sent from Sean Newcomb. The #Braves reopened the clubhouse to the media just now so he could address the media and apologize for things he said.

“This is something that obviously can’t be happening. I feel bad about it. I don’t mean to offend anybody. I definitely regret it.” – Sean Newcomb

When asked if he was worried about how stuff like this would play in the clubhouse, “I think that people who know me know that’s not the kind of person I am.” – #Braves Sean Newcomb @FOXSportsBraves

For those wondering, Newcomb was around 18 and 19 years old when he was pumping out the tweets that bit him in the ass today.
