USC quarterback Sam Darnold hasn’t lived up to the hype this season with 10 interceptions through nine games, but the constant stream of turnovers doesn’t seem to a huge issue with draft evaluators. Way too early mock drafts still have him as a top selection (BR: No. 2; PFF: No. 4), which should signal Darnold to declare after this season no matter what, right?
Not so fast. According to Albert Breer, Darnold could return to SC in 2018 depending on which teams have the top picks. The 49ers are one of those winless teams but now they have Jimmy G, which means Darnold’s reservations may probably center around one team… the Browns:
Per @AlbertBreer, Sam Darnold will want to wait and see who has the top pick or two in the NFL Draft. If it's Browns, he could stay at USC.

This wouldn’t be an issue if the Browns had been able to acquire Jimmy G or AJ McCarron on Tuesday, but we all know those efforts crashed and burned in epic fashion.
For what it’s worth, AM1340, 104.7 FM Denver’s Benjamin Allbright tweeted a week ago Darnold would be “unlikely to leave” anyway:
