Colin Kaepernick worked out for the Las Vegas Raiders last month and initial reports were that Kaepernick was in good shape and impressed the team. The 34-year-old quarterback has not played in the NFL since 2016.
However, Warren Sapp has a different story.
Sapp, who played for the Raiders from 2004 to 2007, discussed what he heard during a recent interview with VladTV and he claims the workout was an absolute disaster.
“My understanding is he impressed. It was a nice workout. There was a lot of positivity, some solid arm strength,” Rapoport said on NFL Total Access. “Really all of the things that, if you’re a team like, let’s say the Las Vegas Raiders, looking to work out a free-agent quarterback, you want to see. From what I understand, the door is open for a potential signing of Colin Kaepernick.”
Kaepernick’s agent also refuted Sapp’s claims in a text exchange with Pro Football Talk.
“I guess Warren didn’t talk to the General Manager or the head coach,” Jeff Nalley told PFT via text message. “I spoke to the G.M. [Dave Zieger] several times and he said they all thought Kap was in great shape and threw the ball really well and encouraged any team to call him about the workout and he would tell them the same. I’m surprised Warren would say that, because it’s not true and you would think he would want Kap on a team.”
Now who is telling the truth? We may never know, but now I really want to see that tape.
