Bama Fan Arrested For Stealing Car, Bails Out, Breaks Into More Cars, Arrested Again…In Same Day!

I’ve learned something about the BC readership & the Facebook audience this week. You guys really like when I find stories about criminals being criminals and it turns out they’re also big college football fans. You especially like when it’s a story about a rival SEC school. SEC fans can’t get enough of this stuff so I’ll keep doing it.
Today, we have Carl Statum, a Bama fan junkie, having a serious issue with stealing cars and breaking into cars to steal the contents. ALLEGEDLY. Gotta get that disclaimer in there. You’ll see the Bama connection below.

From AL.com:

Lawmen first encountered Statum about 4 a.m. Tuesday when a deputy on patrol on Mount Olive Road stopped to help a stranded motorist, said Chief Deputy Randy Christian. The driver, later identified as Statum, told the deputy he had run out of gas.
The deputy, however, ran the car tag and learned the vehicle had been reported stolen to Birmingham police. Statum heard the report, and tried to run away. Deputies captured him a short distance away, and placed him under arrest.

But Statum would be bailed out and headed back out onto the streets where he wasn’t done.

Then, at 3 a.m. today, deputies were dispatched to the 1700 block of Neil Road to investigate several reports of cars being burglarized. Christian said one of the victims told deputies that she heard a noise and looked outside to see a man in the back seat of her car. She yelled at him and he ran away on foot.

So the cops arrested Carl – again – and sent him to jail. Yes, Carl’s been arrested on drug charges this month. Yes, Carl has multiple priors. Yes, Carl’s a total mess.
He’s a proud Bama fan and posted this craziness back in early July. Roll Damn Tide. Football is back, but Carl’s gotta watch from jail. Bummer.
