Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay has been dealing with a “respiratory illness,” but now more details are surfacing about the medical emergency he suffered in December.

According to TMZ Sports, Irsay was found unresponsive in his bed from a suspected drug overdose. The Caramel Police Department stated that Irsay was “cold to the touch and gasping for air” with a blue skin tone.

“We will have no further comment on his personal health, and we continue to ask that Jim and his family’s privacy be respected,” the Colts said in a statement. “He is receiving excellent care and looks forward to returning to the stage as soon as possibl. We’ll have no additional information at this time and we ask that you respect the privacy of Jim and his family as he recovers.”

Police attempted to wake Irsay with a sternum rub, but it was unsuccessful. The police then administered a dose of Narcan which he responded to.

Paramedics eventually responded to the scene and “took over lifesaving efforts” while transferring him to local hospital.

While Irsay was treated for an overdose,”it is unknown what Mr. Irsay had ingested before our arrival.” However, Narcan is typically used to treat people suffering from opioid overdoses.

Irsay has been the owner of the Colts since 1997 and was previously open about his battle to alcohol and pain pills throughout his life. In an interview with Andrea Kramer on HBO Sports, Irsay had also revealed he previously suffered an overdose and was thankful to be alive.
