A cause of death was not announced.
Injuries began derailing Powell’s career during his time with the Florida Gators where he suffered two torn ACLs.
Powell was selected by the New Orleans Saints in the 2014 NFL Draft, but would only play 14 games for the team. He last played for the Orlando Apollos of the Alliance of American Football in 2018.
Our deepest condolences go out to Powell’s family and friends during this incredibly difficult and heartbreaking time.
