Philadelphia Eagles star Jalen Hurts is now trying to clarify comments that caused some backlash after the team’s loss to the Seattle Seahawks on Monday Night Football.

When Hurts stepped to the podium, the quarterback said that the team lacked “execution” and was “not committed enough.” He said, “Being on the same page, everyone being on the same page. We didn’t execute. I don’t think we’re, we’re all, we’re committed enough. Just got to turn it around. You know, it’s a challenge that we have to embrace. Just continue to see it through.”

That obviously struck a nerve with the Eagles’ loyal fanbase.

Some fans and analysts went as far as to say the struggles are on him and his poor decision making, not the entire team.

Now, Hurts is trying to clear the air and get back into the fan base’s good graces by saying “it all starts with me” and making a challenge to himself to do better moving forward.

“It all starts with me,” Hurts said. “And so, when I say ‘we’ I mean ‘me’ because I’m the point guard out there. I’m the one that makes everything go, and I’m the guy that everyone trusts in to do, and set the pace, for everything. That’s in how I play, that’s in my leadership, that’s in every aspect of the game that comes with the shoes that I walk in.

“And so, this is a challenge to myself. You challenge yourself and you challenge the people around you.”

It easy to understand why Eagles fans were upset about his initial comments, but at the end of the day, athletes are human beings too and emotions are running high after a loss.

Perhaps Hurts meant to say the rather comments all along, but no one should dwell on it because the season must go on.
