Cleveland Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson will miss the remainder of the 2023-24 NFL season, the team announced on Wednesday, November 15.
Watson has been ruled out for the remainder of the year after undergoing shoulder surgery on his throwing arm this week.
The 28-year-old Watson, who is in the middle of a five-year, $230 million fully guaranteed deal with the Browns, suffered a “displaced fracture to the glenoid” against the division rival Baltimore Ravens.
Watson underwent the surgery to avoid worsening the injury and ensure he would be 100 percent for the start of next season. Watson also suffered a high-ankle sprain in the team’s win.

This season, Watson was 4-1 as a starter for the 6-3 Browns. Without Watson, the Browns will turn to either Dorian Thompson-Robinson or P.J. Walker under center.
Watson threw for 1,115 yards, 7 touchdowns, and 4 interceptions with a QBR of 44.7 this season.
Up next for the Browns is another AFC North rivalry game, with the Pittsburgh Steelers making the trip to FirstEnergy Stadium. Cleveland will then finish off November on the road against the Denver Broncos at Mile High.
