Miami DE Rueben Bain Jr Wins Freshman Of The Week Award

The Miami Hurricanes scored a huge double overtime win in a thriller against the Clemson Tigers in Week 8. But none of it would have been possible without a monstrous performance from Hurricanes defensive end Rueben Bain Jr.

The freshman recorded 8 total tackles, 2 sacks with 10 quarterback pressures, and a forced fumble in the game.

Bain led the NCAA in quarterback pressures in Week 8, as the Hurricanes defense swarmed for all four quarters to sack Clemson quarterback Cade Klubnik five times.

As a result, Bain was named the Shaun Alexander Freshman of the Week.

In the 28-20 victory in double overtime, the freshman recorded 8 total tackles, 2 sacks with 10 quarterback pressures, and added a forced fumble to his monster performance. His 10 pressures were most pressures for a defensive player in week 8. Bain’s 2 sacks were a part of a Hurricane rush that got to Clemson quarterback Cade Klubnik 5 times. The Hurricanes look to defend their home field next week When they take on the Virginia Cavaliers in their homecoming game.

The Hurricanes will look to continue the momentum built in their hard-fought overtime victory in Week 9 when they host the Virginia Cavaliers, who are coming off a huge upset over North Carolina, at Hard Rock Stadium for their annual homecoming game.
