Texas LB Anthony Hill Jr Wins Freshman Of The Week Award

The Texas Longhorns picked up a huge win on the road over Alabama in Week 2, dominating Nick Saban’s squad in Tuscaloosa which catapulted the Longhorns to the No. 4 ranking in the latest AP Top 25 Poll.

One of the standouts for Texas was on the defensive side of the ball, with freshman linebacker Anthony Hill Jr. coming up clutch for his team.

Hill was a five-star recruit, the No. 1 linebacker in the country, and the No. 3 prospect in the state of Texas in the Class of 2023 after starring for the Denton Ryan Raiders.

The Maxwell Football Club honored Hill’s performance by naming him the Shaun Alexander Freshman of the Year Award – Player of the Week for Week 2.

Hill recorded 6 tackles with 2 tackles for loss and two sacks.

Texas Linebacker Anthony Hill Jr. has been named the Shaun Alexander Freshman of the Week after a dominant showing in the Texas upset against No. 3 Alabama. The 6 ‘3 234 freshman would lead the Longhorn defense, making 6 tackles with 2 tackles for loss and two sacks. Hill would also record his first sack for the program during their trip down to Tuscaloosa. Texas returns home to Darrell K. Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium to take on Wyoming this Saturday, Sept. 16 at 7 p.m. CT.

Up next for Texas is a return home to Darrell K Royal–Texas Memorial Stadium in Austin to play host to the Wyoming Cowboys. Kickoff on Saturday, September 16, is set for 8:00 p.m. ET on the Longhorn Network.
