We are about to enter Week 3 of the college football season, and a number of teams have exceeded expectations.
From the Texas Longhorns surging into the top five to the Colorado Buffaloes living up to Coach Prime’s preseason hype by flying out of the gate to a 2-0 start and jumping to No. 18 in the AP Top 25 Poll, plenty of fan bases have been satisfied and coaches have earned some favor from their programs.
But for others, things have not been going smoothly.
That has led to the oddsmakers taking a look at the current college football landscape and setting odds on which coach will be the first to be fired. As it currently stands, Texas A&M’s Jimbo Fisher is the leader on the board with 4-to-1 odds following the Aggies’ 48-33 loss to Miami.
A trio of coaches — Arkansas State’s Butch Jones, New Mexico’s Danny Gonzalez, and Virginia’s Tony Elliott — are tied at 5-to-1.
Who else could be in danger of being fired sooner rather than later?
