The Colorado football program picked up a massive win over last season’s national runner-up TCU in Deion Sanders’ FBS debut with the Buffaloes to kick off the 2023 campaign.
While quarterback Shedeur Sanders and two-way star Travis Hunter picked up a majority of the headlines, freshman running back Dylan Edwards was also a key piece of the offense and he has picked up a weekly honor for his performance.
The Maxwell Football Club honored Edwards’ performance by naming him the Shaun Alexander Freshman of the Year Award – Player of the Week for Week 1.
Edwards recorded 24 yards and a touchdown on the ground while hauling in five catches for 135 yards and three touchdowns through the air. The freshman sensation set three school records in his debut, including most receiving yards and most receiving touchdowns by a running back.
