The NFL’s decision to allow alternate helmets once again has led to some incredible new looks around the league. This season, the Cleveland Browns will be getting in on the fun.
This week, the Browns took to social media to unveil a brand new uniform for the upcoming season that will stray from what fans are used to.
Cleveland will be wearing an all-white throwback uniform for three games throughout the year. The biggest change, however, is moving away from the traditional orange helmet and introducing a white helmet to complete the look for their “White Out Series.”
It really is an incredible look.

The Browns will wear the all-white uniforms in Week 2 against the rival Pittsburgh Steelers on Monday Night Football, Week 6 against the San Francisco 49ers, and in Week 17 on Thursday Night Football against the New York Jets.

“We’re super fired up and really excited to have this opportunity to wear an alternate helmet,” Executive Vice President and Partner JW Johnson said in a statement.
“We decided to go with the white helmet for a couple reasons — it harkens back to our past, and a lot of our greatest players wore white helmets. We also heard from our fans that it was the direction they wanted. We always want to continue having great fan interaction and deliver for them as much as we possibly can.”
While the white helmets will be new for the current fan base, they actually date back to the Browns’ first six years in existence. It wasn’t until 1952 that the team adopted the orange shell.
In the Browns’ first four years of existence, the team won four All-America Football Conference championships and won the 1950 NFL championship during their first year in the league with players like Otto Graham and Lou Groza on the roster.
With the white shell returning, the Browns will look to find some of that old success.
