After a disappointing collapse against the Boston Celtics and exit from the NBA Playoffs, the Philadelphia 76ers announced that they were parting ways with head coach Doc Rivers.
The move was expected, but now the 76ers will need to find a new man to lead their loaded roster after falling short in the Eastern Conference Finals on numerous occasions with Rivers at the helm.
Naturally, as soon as Rivers was fired, the oddsmakers lined up to give us a look at who could be favored to land the coveted job that comes with the reigning league MVP.
Because it will be such a high-profile job, there are a number of names you would expect to see like Monty Williams and Nick Nurse, but 76ers fans may be surprised and excited to see the other names on the list. In fact, former 76ers guard and current ESPN analyst JJ Redick is favored to land the job at 3-1, narrowly edging out Williams (4-1).
Redick was recently interviewed for the Toronto Raptors head coaching vacancy.
Another name that will catch the attention of the 76ers faithful is former Villanova head coach Jay Wright, who led the Wildcats to two national titles, four Final Four appearances, and 16 NCAA tournament appearances in 21 seasons as head coach.
Who could be in the mix for the 76ers job?
