Michael Jordan’s ‘Dynasty Collection’ Up For Auction; Could Sell For $100M

Michael Jordan’s championship sneakers will be up for auction, and it is the Holy Grail for sneakerheads across the world. The collection has been dubbed the “Mona Lisa of Sneakers.”

Southeby’s is set to auction off “The Dynasty Collection,” which features six sneakers that “His Airness” wore in title-clinching games. From the Jordan 6 worn when he won his first championship in 1991 to the Jordan 14s that were worn in the “Last Dance” against the Utah Jazz in 1998, the unique pieces of NBA history will be available in a private sale.

“Worn in each of the six unforgettable games that secured the Bulls’ dynasty status, this collection’s overwhelming influence on pop culture and basketball is undeniable as these shoes simultaneously combine Jordan’s legacy, domination, and stardom,” Southeby’s head of streetwear and modern collectibles Brahm Wachter wrote in a statement.

Unfortunately, you have to have incredibly deep pockets to even sniff the likely sale price.

Experts say the incredibly rare collection —  which includes some autographed sneakers and inscriptions like “‘Our’ last f*cking game” — could sell for over $20 million and for as much as $100 million.

“Because of the historical and cultural impact that they represent, as a group they are among the most important basketball shoes a collector could own,” said Leila Dunbar, an experienced memorabilia appraiser and consultant, via the Wall Street Journal.

The full collection includes the Air Jordan VI, Air Jordan VII, autographed Air Jordan VIII, Air Jordan XI, autographed Air Jordan XII, and the Air Jordan XIV.

“The Dynasty Collection” was unveiled in Dubai on February 28. The collection will be on display at Sotheby’s Dubai until March 3. More information can be found at Sothebys.com.
