The Deion Sanders impact is real.

Coach Prime will make his debut as head coach of the Colorado football program at the spring game on April 22, and fans can’t wait to see the new era of Buffaloes football. With two months until the game, it has already set an attendance record with more than 30,000 tickets sold.

According to Brian Howell of Buffzone, the 30,013 tickets sold for the spring game is nearly as many as Colorado has sold for the last seven spring games combined (30,450). Last year, 1,950 fans showed up for the game.

That means ticket sales are up more than 1,400 percent.

“The response for spring game sales has been very exciting,” said Alexis Williams, CU’s senior associate athletic director for external operations, via The Denver Post. “I think it exceeded anything we thought it would, so we’re excited to have thousands of fans be here for a spring game. I think it also is allowing fans who won’t be able to attend in the fall a chance to have a sneak peek and come to the game.

“Looking at our data, we have so many new people, brand new people in our system buying spring game tickets from other states. That excitement alone is great that they’ll come out. We’re very, very pleased,” Williams said.

“I think it goes to our loyalty to our fans that have stuck with us. We didn’t raise season ticket prices. No matter who the coach was, we made that decision, so it’s very exciting to have all the Buff fans back in the fall.”

Add in the 6,000 free tickets that have been claimed by students, and the stadium will be rocking to ring in the Coach Prime era.

Colorado will open its 2023 campaign on September 2 against TCU, with the home opener scheduled for September 9 against Nebraska.
