LSU football star Malik Nabers was arrested on a weapons charge this week in New Orleans.

According to reports, the 19-year-old Nabers was arrested and booked on a charge of illegal carrying of weapons. Nabers has since been released and was not required to post bail, according to ESPN.com.

Nabers — a four-star recruit out of high school — was arrested in the French Quarter at the intersection of Bourbon Street and Conti Street. New Orleans police noticed an “L-shaped object” on Nabers which he did not have a permit to carry. He was arrested at approximately 7:30 p.m.

An LSU spokesperson said that Tigers head coach Brian Kelly is aware of the situation and the university is still gathering additional information. There was no further comment at this time.

Last season, Nabers led LSU in receptions (72) and receiving yards (1,017) as a sophomore, while finishing second in the SEC in receiving yards behind Tennessee’s Jalin Hyatt. Three of his catches were hauled in for touchdowns.
