Cincinnati Mayor Aftab Pureval is catching some backlash after sharing a video on social media with some cringe-worthy trash talk directed at the Kansas City Chiefs ahead of this weekend’s AFC Championship Game.

Pureval declared Sunday, January 29 “They Gotta Play Us Day,” referred to Arrowhead Stadium as “Burrowhead” and made sure to point out that Patrick Mahomes is winless against Joe Burrow.

Then he had a bizarre line about a paternity test that fell flat.

“Whereas, Joseph Lee Burrow, who’s 3-0 all time against Mahomes, has been asked by city officials to take a paternity test confirming whether or not he’s his father,” the mayor said.

The video has been viewed millions of times, and Chiefs fans have started roasting the mayor for his lame attempt at trash-talking. Among the first to chime in on the stunt was Mahomes’ wife, Brittany Mahomes.

Then the hits kept coming in, calling the mayor everything from an SNL reject to ripping the Cincinnati staple Skyline Chili.

Even his own people were against him.

Kansas City Mayor Quinton Lucas eventually got involved in the roast of Mayor Pureval, also calling the trash talk “weak” and then insulting Cincinnati.

“I hear the mayor of Cincinnati has tried to bring some smoke that’s weak as hell,” Mayor Lucas said. “No need to respond. KC’s got class. Cincinnati has Jerry Springer and no rings. See them Sunday.”

Eventually, Mayor Pureval issued an apology.

“My competitive juices and love for Cincy got the best of me,” Pureval said. “My bad. Staying hungry and humble. See you Sunday. Who Dey baby!”

The Bengals and Chiefs meet at Arrowhead Stadium on Sunday evening with kickoff set for 6:30 p.m. ET on CBS.

If the trash talk is any indication, Chiefs by 30.
