The most expensive piece of LeBron James memorabilia has been sold at an auction in New York.
On Friday, Sotheby’s auctioned off LeBron’s Game 7 jersey from the 2013 NBA Finals. It is the jersey LeBron wore when he dropped 37 points and 12 rebounds to help the Miami Heat beat Tim Duncan and the San Antonio Spurs to win the NBA championship.
When the auction was over, the jersey sold for a record-shattering $3.7 million.
The $3.7 million price tag is five times more than any other piece of game-worn LeBron James memorabilia. The previous record was $630,000 for his 2020 NBA All-Star jersey.

“Today’s tremendous result comes at a pivotal time in LeBron James’ career, where he is in arm’s reach of clenching the all-time points record – one of the NBA’s most revered accolades,” Brahm Wachter, Sotheby’s Head of Streetwear and Modern Collectables, said, via the Daily Mail.
The LeBron jersey is the third most valuable sports jersey sale ever for Sotheby’s.
The most expensive jersey ever sold by the company was Michael Jordan’s game-worn 1998 NBA Finals jersey which went for $10.1 million, while Diego Maradona’s “Hand of God” jersey sold for $9.2 million.
Both jerseys were sold in 2022.
While the jersey is the most expensive piece of LeBron memorabilia worn by the NBA superstar, the record price for any LeBron item is an autographed rookie card which sold for $5.2m back in 2021 — the second highest-priced basketball trading card in history.
