Former Detroit Lions LB Jessie Lemonier Dies At 25

Jessie Lemonier, a former outside linebacker for the Detroit Lions, has passed away at age 25. The Lions announced the tragic news on Thursday morning.

“We are shocked and saddened to learn of the passing of former Detroit Lion Jessie Lemonier. Jessie was a model teammate and wonderful young man who is gone far too soon,” the team said in a statement.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends during this difficult time.”

A cause of death has not been announced at this time.

The Liberty Flames alum joined the Los Angeles Chargers in 2020 as an undrafted free agent. He was later signed to the Detroit Lions practice squad before being promoted to the active roster. After being waived, Lemonier had a brief stint with with the Arizona Cardinals.

Lemonier most recently was selected by the Arlington Renegades in the 2023 XFL Draft, but opted to sign with the Houston Gamblers in the United States Football League in December 2022 before being traded to the defending USFL champion Birmingham Stallions.
