Damar Hamlin’s medical providers in Cincinnati are set to be honored for their heroic efforts following his on-field emergency at Paul Brown Stadium on January 2.

Hamlin suffered cardiac arrest and the medical team immediately sprung into action to perform life-saving CPR on the field before transporting him to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center.

The 24-year-old Hamlin spent a week in their care before he was released from the ICU and allowed to continue his recovery at home.

To show appreciation to the medical providers — which includes Hamlin’s physicians Dr. Knight and Dr. Pritts– Cincinnati Mayor Aftab Pureval’s office announced that they would be receiving a key to the city.

“The inspirational work done by Damar Hamlin’s medical care team is a testament to the powerful impact of UC Health and all our healthcare workers. These are true heroes, and they spend every day saving the lives of our family, friends, and neighbors. It’s been incredible to see Cincinnati rally around Damar and those who stepped up to help him recover, as UC Health workers have once again shown what our community is made of,” Mayor Pureval said in a press release, via WLWT5.

Hamlin continues to make major strides in his recovery and attended the Bills’ Divisional Round playoff game against the Cincinnati Bengals in Buffalo on Sunday.

Hopefully he will continue to make a full recovery.
