San Francisco 49ers defensive lineman Charles Omenihu has been arrested on suspicion of misdemeanor domestic violence just days ahead of the team’s NFC Championship Game showdown with the Philadelphia Eagles.
According to The Mercury News, the 25-year-old was booked at the Santa Clara County Jail and released after posting bail.
Police say a woman at the scene of the alleged altercation claimed Omenihu pushed her to the ground during an argument and she complained of “pain to her arm.” The woman refused medical attention and police say “officers did not observe any visible physical injuries.”
An emergency restraining order was issued.

“We are aware of the matter involving Charles Omenihu and are in the process of gathering further information,” the 49ers said in a statement.
Omenihu was acquired by the 49ers in November 2021 after a trade with the Houston Texans. This season, Omenihu has recorded 4.5 sacks and added two more in the postseason.
The 49ers are set to take on the Eagles on Sunday, January 29, with a spot in Super Bowl 57 on the line.
