Former Nebraska football star Tommy Armstrong Jr. came up in the clutch and pulled off some heroics this week when the unthinkable happened.
According to Sports Illustrated, Armstrong and his mother noticed their neighbor’s house was on fire. Armstrong rushed into the burning home and was able to help the neighbor escape the frightening situation. Armstrong says that he knew the neighbor since he was a kid.
“I saw a bunch of smoke, so I just started grabbing bricks and throwing ’em through the window and realized they were trying to get out of the back right window. So I crawled in there and grabbed her, picked her up, and drug her to the window. We got her out,” Armstrong said.
“At the end of the day, I was just trying to find her. It was more of just, I’ve known her since I was a little kid.”
@Tommy_Gun4 and his mom are heros. We’re sitting in her living room and the neighbors house burst in flames. We run over and I take care of the young girl who punched the windows out to break free, Tommy and his mom jump into the burning house to pull the remaining people out. pic.twitter.com/SIRgEoX5vP

It was a horrible situation for everyone involved — especially so close to the holiday — but luckily no one was injured. And Armstrong just happened to be in the right place at the right time, visiting his family and springing into action when someone needed help the most.
