Jerry Jones has not been shy about the Dallas Cowboys‘ interest in free agent wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. However, over the weekend people began wondering whether Beckham hurt his chances of signing with a top team after he was escorted off of a flight in Miami.
Beckham was removed from the flight after he reportedly would not buckle his seatbelt and was going in and out of consciousness.
As for whether that impacts the possibility he could sign with the Cowboys, Jones said it will not be a factor. Jones did not seem concerned about the incident and said it does not impact the team’s interest in him and that he still believes the star wideout would be a good fit in Dallas.
“No. It did not,” Jones said Tuesday morning during an appearance on 105.3 The Fan, per Jori Epstein of Yahoo Sports. “His overall team compatibility, his judgement, behavior is not an issue with him. It is with many but not him. We think he’d fit in really good with us.”
Beckham’s lawyer has refuted the claims that the wide receiver refused to get off of the flight until police were involved and said Beckham was simply asleep with a blanket over his head before an “overzealous flight attendant” intervened.
Beckham has been recovering from a torn ACL suffered in the Los Angeles Rams’ Super Bowl win in February and is reportedly on the verge of making a decision on where he will sign for the final stretch of the season.
