Christopher Darnell Jones Jr, the suspected gunman who is believed to have open-fired into a bus full of students at the University of Virginia, is in police custody after a manhunt overnight.
The shooting left three students dead and two others injured.
All three of the deceased victims were members of the university’s football team and were identified as Devin Chandler, a junior from Virginia Beach; Lavel Davis Jr., a junior from Dorchester, South Carolina; and D’Sean Perry, a 4th-year student from Miami, Florida.
Classes were canceled on Monday.

“I am holding the victims, their families, and all members of the University of Virginia community in my heart today, and we will make plans to come together as a community to grieve as soon as the suspect is apprehended,” University of Virginia President Jim Ryan said.
A motive for the shooting is not known at this time.
