Maxwell Football Club’s College Football Players of the Week for Week 7

As the college football rolls on, the Maxwell Football Club continues to announce its weekly honors. Following Week 7 of the 2022 campaign, the Maxwell Football Club announced its latest Maxwell Award Player of the Week and Bednarik Award Player of the Week.

The Maxwell Award Player of the Week will be recognized for overall performance on offense, defense, or special teams. The Chuck Bednarik Award Player of the Week, meanwhile, will be honored for outstanding defensive play.

This week’s Maxwell Award went to Tennessee Vols wide receiver Jalin Hyatt, who feasted on the Alabama Crimson Tide defense. Hyatt had an unthinkable, video game-like stat line with 6 catches for 207 yards, and a whopping 5 touchdowns in the Vols’ upset win over ‘Bama.

Defensively, Clemson defensive end Myles Murphy picked up the honors after recording 6 tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss, 2 sacks, and a forced fumble in the Tigers’ win over Florida State.

Maxwell Award Player of the Week: Jalin Hyatt, WR, Tennessee

Tennessee wide receiver Jalin Hyatt has been named the Maxwell Player of the Week after propelling the #6 Volunteers past #3 Alabama 52-49. The 6-0, 180-pound junior from Irmo, South Carolina had 6 receptions for 207 yards and 5 TDs on Saturday in Knoxville. The performance by Hyatt and the Volunteers boosted their ranking in the AP Top 25 poll to #3 for Week 8. The Volunteers head into the new week looking forward to hosting UT-Martin on Saturday in Neyland Stadium.


Bednarik Award Player of the Week: Myles Murphy, DE, Clemson

Clemson defensive end Myles Murphy was named the Chuck Bednarik Award Player of the Week following Saturday’s 34-28 win over Florida State. The 6-5, 275-pound junior from Marietta, Georgia showed commendable efforts against the Seminoles compiling 6 tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss, 2 sacks, and a forced fumble. Murphy and the fifth-ranked Tigers will host the fourteenth-ranked Syracuse Orange in Death Valley this Saturday.
