Delay of game penalties are common in football, and we can sometimes see games halted due to lightning or other unforeseen elements, but nothing could’ve prepared the college football world for what happened during Friday night’s ESPN broadcast of a game between the SMU Mustangs and Navy Midshipmen.
During the pony’s trot across the field at Gerald J. Ford Stadium after a touchdown, nature called and the floodgates opened.
The game was delayed more than 15 minutes.

Naturally, the grounds crew had to take the time to clean up the crap left behind and some unlucky students from Southern Methodist University scooped it all up using some Powerade cups.
It was truly a team effort.

Once the game resumed, SMU was able to hold off a late run from Navy and came away with a hard-fought victory, 40-34, over the Midshipmen led by an outstanding performance from quarterback Tanner Mordecai, who threw for 336 yards and 3 touchdowns while adding 74 yards and a score on the ground.
Up next for the Mustangs is a meeting with the No. 21 Cincinnati Bearcats.
