Maxwell Football Club’s College Football Players of the Week for Week 6

As the college football rolls on, the Maxwell Football Club continues to announce its weekly honors. Following Week 6 of the 2022 campaign, the Maxwell Football Club announced its latest Maxwell Award Player of the Week and Bednarik Award Player of the Week.

The Maxwell Award Player of the Week will be recognized for overall performance on offense, defense, or special teams. The Chuck Bednarik Award Player of the Week, meanwhile, will be honored for outstanding defensive play.

This week’s Maxwell Award went to Ohio State quarterback CJ Stroud, who went 21-of-26 for 361 yards and six touchdowns in a blowout win over the Michigan State Spartans.

Defensively, NC State linebacker Drake Thoma picked up honors after totaling 7 solo tackles, 7 assisted tackles, 2.5 TFL, 2 PBU’s, and one QB hit.

Maxwell Award Player of the Week: CJ Stroud, QB, Ohio State

Ohio State quarterback CJ Stroud has been named Maxwell Award Player of the Week after boosting the #3 Buckeyes to a 49-20 win over Michigan State. The 6-3, 218-pound junior quarterback went 21-26 passes for 361 yards and 6 touchdowns. The performance by Stroud and the Buckeyes’ boosted the team to #2 in AP Top 25 rankings for Week 7. The Buckeyes head into a bye week before hosting Iowa on October 22nd.


Bednarik Award Player of the Week: Drake Thomas, LB, NC State

NC State linebacker Drake Thomas was named the Chuck Bednarik Award Player of the Week following Saturday’s 19-17 win over Florida State. The junior linebacker out of Wake Forest, North Carolina had a big day for the Wolfpack totaling 7 solo tackles, 7 assisted tackles, 2.5 TFL, 2 PBU’s and 1 QBH. The #15 Wolfpack head to the Carrier Dome this Saturday to take on #18 Syracuse.
