UPDATE: The Baltimore Police Department says they responded to a “questionable death” shortly before midnight. Jaylon Ferguson was unresponsive when they arrived and “never regained consciousness” while being treated by medics, according to TMZ Sports.

Ferguson was pronounced dead at the scene. No foul play is suspected at this time.


Original Story: Jaylon Ferguson, a linebacker for the Baltimore Ravens, has tragically passed away. The team announced the news in a statement on social media early Wednesday morning.

He was just 26 years old.

“We are profoundly saddened by the tragic passing of Jaylon Ferguson, the team said in a statement. “He was a kind, respectful young man with a big smile and infectious personality. We express our heartfelt condolences to Jaylon’s family and friends as we mourn a life lost much too soon.”

A cause of death has not been announced at this time.

Ferguson’s agent Safarrah Lawson added: “It’s with great sadness that we announce the passing of Baltimore Ravens LB Jaylon Ferguson. The family asks for your prayers and privacy during this trying time.”

Ferguson was a third-round pick in the 2019 NFL Draft.

During his collegiate career at Louisiana Tech, Ferguson was a one-time NCAA sack leader, C-USA Defensive Player of the Year in 2018, and two-time First Team All C-USA.
