Bowling Green State Basketball Player Ubong Etim Injured In Shooting

Bowling Green State basketball player Ubong Etim was injured in a shooting over the weekend after a passing vehicle shot into a car he was occupying while driving along the highway.

Etim is expected to be okay, according to local news outlet WTOL-11.

There were three other occupants in the vehicle — including Bowling Green State football players Dierre Kelly and Willie Jones — but they were not injured in the incident.

“Bowling Green State University is aware of the June 11 incident in Toledo involving student-athlete Ubong Etim. We remain focused on supporting him in his recovery,” a statement from the university read. “While other student-athletes were present in the vehicle, there were no additional injuries reported to the University. Due to an ongoing law enforcement investigation, BGSU has no further comment at this time.”

Etim is a 6-foot-9 freshman forward who has yet to play a game for the Falcons.
