Carson Wentz is no longer a member of the Indianapolis Colts. Say hello to Commander Carson.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Indianapolis Colts have agreed to trade the starting quarterback to the NFC East’s Washington Commanders.
Washington is sending a package of picks that includes their 2022 second-round pick, 2022 third-round pick, and a 2023 third-round pick that could become a second-round pick if Wentz plays 70 percent of snaps this coming season in exchange for Wentz and the Commanders 2022 second-round pick.
In addition, Washington will pick up Wentz’s full contract; the full $28 million due to Wentz this year including a $5 million roster bonus due next week.

The deal is a win-win for both teams.
Washington was desperate for an upgrade under center and after missing out on Russell Wilson, they had to look elsewhere for an improvement. For the Colts, they get to unload Wentz’s salary while also picking up some valuable draft capital.
With the move, Wentz will also turn the 2022-23 NFL regular season into a reunion tour with two games against the Eagles and a return trip to Indianapolis with the Commanders.
Carson Wentz will not only face the Eagles twice next season, he'll also travel back to Indianapolis to play against the Colts too πΏπΏ
