New Orleans Saints star receiver Michael Thomas announced on Twitter Wednesday morning that he will be out for the rest of the season. Thomas’s loss is another brutal blow to a beat-up Saints offense.
Fans around the league were shocked by the news and took to Twitter to reach out to the injured Thomas. Thomas and the Saints believed the receiver would be able to return to action this season, however early in the off-season, surgery was required to repair his injury.
“I’ve always been a man of faith and these past few months my faith has truly been tested,” Thomas wrote in a statement on Twitter. “As many of you know, early last season I injured my ankle and worked extremely hard over the next few months to get back in time to finish the season. Unfortunately, the rehab didn’t go as planned and earlier this off-season it was apparent I would need to have a procedure to repair the injury. Since then, the team and I have worked diligently, day and night to rehab and get me back on the field.”
Now Thomas stated that another setback occurred that has completely derailed his hopes of playing this season.
“To my displeasure, I will not be able to make it back in time for this season but will do everything in my power to get back to the player I have always been.” Thomas added. “I know God doesn’t make mistakes so I will continue to follow in his path, and can’t wait to be back on the field in front of the best fans on the planet.”

Thomas appeared in only seven games last season while doing with the same injury. Thomas hasn’t been able to stay healthy after coming off the best season of his career in 2019 with 149 receptions and 1,725 yds. The Saints offense will have to fight to keep the course in a fire-powered NFC.
The team lost starting quarterback Jameis Winston on Sunday in a won over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The league goes through many big-name players being injured every season. It’s just every time the news is announced, it doesn’t make it any easier to hear.
