Raiders WR Henry Ruggs Involved In Fatal Car Crash; Charged With DUI Resulting In Death

UPDATE: The Las Vegas Raiders have released Henry Ruggs III.


UPDATE: Raiders wide receiver Henry Ruggs III is being charged with DUI resulting in death, according to the Las Vegas Metro Police Department.

Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Henry Ruggs III was reportedly involved in a serious car accident in Las Vegas early Tuesday morning.

According to TMZ Sports, the fiery crash took place at around 3:40 a.m. Local reports say there was at least one fatality in the accident.

Ruggs’ condition is unclear at this time.

TMZ later added, “A source close to Ruggs tells us the NFL’er is expected to be OK. The condition of the other people involved in the crash is still unclear.”

There is no word on whether drugs or alcohol are believed to be involved. Videos and photos of the wreckage began to surface on social media.

“On behalf of our client Henry Ruggs III we are conducting our own investigation as of this writing and ask everyone to reserve judgment until all the facts are gathered,” a statement from Ruggs’ attorney, David Chesnoff, read.

Ruggs, who played college football at Alabama, was the first receiver taken in the 2020 NFL Draft.
