Baker Mayfield will not be suiting up for the Cleveland Browns in Week 7.

On Wednesday morning, the organization announced that the starting quarterback has officially been ruled out of the Thursday Night Football showdown against the Denver Broncos. Mayfield is nursing a serious injury to his non-throwing (left) shoulder which will force him to the sidelines.

In his absence, veteran Case Keenum will take the field with the starting offense.

“Case Keenum will be our starter tomorrow night and we have full confidence in him to lead us and do the things necessary to put us in position to win,” Browns coach Kevin Stefanski said in a statement. “Baker fought really hard to play, he’s a competitor and obviously wants to be out there but just couldn’t make it on a short week. We know he will continue to do everything in his power to return as quickly as possible.”

Keenum joined the Browns in 2020. Prior to signing with Cleveland, Keenum spent a season with the Washington Football Team where he recorded 1,707 yards, 11 touchdowns, and five interceptions.

We will have to see how he does on Thursday night in a tough AFC clash.
