Aaron Rodgers struggled in the Green Bay Packers‘ Week 1 loss to the New Orleans Saints. Many have pointed to Rodgers’ time away from the team this offseason when he was considering retirement, and that criticism has led to some saying there was an overall lack of preparation.
Now, Rodgers is getting ripped by a former Packers teammate, Jermichael Finley, who simply believes the star quarterback doesn’t have the same drive to win.
Rodgers threw for 133 yards, no touchdowns, and two interceptions in the team’s 38-3 loss.
During the offseason, Rodgers’s strained relationship with Green Bay was very publicized with reports that he did not want to return to the team. Instead of attending OTAs and workouts, Rodgers mulled retirement, took a trip to Hawaii while his team was working out, and even had a guest-hosting stint on Jeopardy!
Could that have led to some rest? Absolutely. Does that mean Rodgers has lost his desire to win? Absolutely not.
Let’s remember: it was only the opening game of the season, and there are 16 more games to go.
