Bru McCoy, a member of the USC football team, has been suspended following an arrest for felony domestic violence.
According to a report from TMZ Sports, the 21-year-old wide receiver was arrested in Los Angeles last week on July 24 on a charge of “intimate partner violence with injury.”
“USC does not condone violence of any kind. We are aware of the situation, and USC’s Office for Equity, Equal Opportunity, and Title IX is reviewing it. Because of federal student privacy laws, we are unable to share additional information at this time,” the university said in a statement, via USCFootball.com.
“The student-athlete has been temporarily removed from team activities.”
Last season, McCoy hauled in 21 catches for 236 yards. The former Mater Dei standout was expected to see an increase in production this season with starting quarterback Kedon Slovis.
Prior to taking the field at USC where he enrolled in 2019 as an early enrollee, he transferred to Texas. However, after participating in spring camp, he transferred back to USC and sat out for the year with an undisclosed illness.
Whether he will return to the field this season remains to be seen, but he will be appearing in the courtroom on November 5.
