Conor McGregor suffered a gruesome lower leg injury in his UFC 264 loss to Dustin Poirier at T-Mobile Arena on Saturday night and details are beginning to surface about what is next for the former two-division champion.

McGregor suffered a fracture of the lower tibia and is set to undergo surgery on Sunday.

For those of us who are not medical doctors, MMA ringside physician Dr. David Abbasi, who is also an orthopedic surgeon, is here to break down exactly what is in store for McGregor as he recovers from the devastating injury.

Dr. Abbasi previously broke down the gruesome broken leg suffered by Chris Weidman earlier in the year, and is now back to help us all digest what we witnessed in the cage.

You can check out the breakdown from Dr. Abbasi below.

With the win over McGregor, Dustin Poirier has earned a shot at lightweight champion Charles Oliveira in a bout that is expected to take place by the end of the year.

McGregor, meanwhile, drops to 3-4 since beating Jose Aldo for the featherweight championship in 2016. McGregor has won just one fight in the past five years and is just 1-4 in the UFC at 155-pounds.

We wish McGregor a full and speedy recovery.
