Barkevious Mingo is in trouble with the law.

Earlier this week, the Atlanta Falcons linebacker was arrested on a charge of indecency with a child. The charge is a felony that could carry up to 20 years behind bars, according to a report from ESPN.

In Texas, where Mingo turned himself in alongside his lawyer, indecency with a child, sexual contact relates to engaging in sexual contact with someone younger than 17 years old.

“The incident stems from an investigation that the department is conducting,” the Arlington Police Department said in a statement. “Due to the nature of the charges and age of the victim, no additional information is releasable at this time.”

Mingo’s attorney, Lukas Garcia, is denying the allegations.

“At this stage, our side has very limited information,” Garcia said. “What we do know is these allegations are from over two years ago and are completely untrue. Mr. Mingo is the victim of a false claim, and we believe this is motivated by money or some other ulterior motive.”

Mingo, a former first-round pick of the Cleveland Browns, signed with the Falcons in March. He also had brief stints with the New England Patriots and Chicago Bears.
