The fallout from Rachel Nichols’ comments about Maria Taylor continues.

Nichols found herself in the headlines this week after comments she made about her colleague leaked. In the audio, Nichols was frustrated that Maria Taylor was given the NBA Finals assignment inside of the bubble during last year’s pandemic and suggested Taylor received the gig as a “diversity hire.”

That led to plenty of drama behind-the-scenes, and now Nichols will be missing out on the finals once again.

Ahead of Game 2 on Tuesday, the Worldwide Leader in Sports announced that Nichols would not be serving as the network’s sideline reporter for the series between the Phoenix Suns and Milwaukee Bucks.

She will be replaced by Malika Andrews.

“We believe this is best decision for all concerned in order to keep the focus on the NBA Finals. Rachel will continue to host The Jump,” ESPN said in a statement.

The NBA Finals officially tip off on Tuesday night at 9:00 p.m. ET on ABC.
