UCF football star McKenzie Milton is moving on.

The quarterback, who was one of the best in the program’s history, was recovering from a devastating knee injury. With sophomore quarterback Dillon Gabriel excelling, Milton has made the decision to transfer from the Knights.

Throughout his career at UCF, Milton accounted for 9,761 yards of total offense and 92 combined touchdowns.

He was at the helm for UCF’s 2017 undefeated season.

“I just came to him during a bye week out of respect for him, ‘Coach, I have one shot to go chase a dream, a life-long dream to go play in the NFL.’ Coach got emotional,” Milton said. “Coach got emotional because I love him and he loves him.

“It’s one of the hardest things for me to do, but it just makes the most sense. I’m trying to think of it more logically than emotionally because I bleed black and gold, it’s where my heart’s at. It’s just one of those things, it’s DG’s team now. I feel like the touch is passed. I feel like he’s going to take it to a whole other level. There’s no reason, whether there’s a five-star recruit coming in or me coming off of injury, he shouldn’t have to even be put in a position to compete. He’s earned that right to be our QB. I wouldn’t want to slow down his momentum. He could very well be a top draft pick next year the way he’s been playing.”

“Thank you, guys. Thank you for getting on my butt my freshman year when I wasn’t performing at a high level. Thank you for your support through the good times and the bad times. Thank you for your prayers. I wouldn’t have the opportunity to play football again without the thoughts, the prayers, the love of fans, friends, everyone. I’m forever indebted to you guys and forever grateful for Knight Nation.”

Like UCF fans across the country, we wish Milton the best in the next chapter of his career.
