The Miami football program will be moving forward without head coach Manny Diaz attending practices in person.

On Friday, Diaz issued a brief statement on social media to announce that he has been diagnosed with the novel coronavirus COVID-19.

“I have tested positive for COVID-19. I am currently in isolation and feeling good overall,” Diaz said in a statement.

“I will continue to work with our team virtually as we prepare for our next game at Wake Forest.”

The coronavirus pandemic has been wreaking havoc on the Hurricanes roster with a total of 24 players being unavailable over the past two weeks. This week, University of Miami officials announced that the program would be shut down for two weeks.

When the No. 12 Hurricanes return to action, they will take on Wake Forest on December 5. The Hurricanes currently sit at 7-1 on the season.
