Today may be Game 3 of the NBA Finals, but there is also a seismic subplot regarding what the 76ers will do with Mr. Big Collar, Bryan Colangelo. Will they do the right thing and dump his ass, or piss off an entire fanbase by keeping him on board despite Burnergate? ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported a decision on Colangelo’s fate could come Wednesday, but there has been no word as of yet.

NBC Sports Philly’s John Clark, however, writes the 76ers believe Colangelo was totally oblivious to the leaking of team information and bad-mouthing of players on the roster:

While the Sixers’ investigation into president of basketball operations Bryan Colangelo’s Twitter fiasco is ongoing, the general belief within the organization is that it believes Colangelo’s assertion he had no knowledge of the Twitter accounts, did not send the messages or had known the messages were being sent, according to a source.
The Sixers are trying to decide if they can go forward with Colangelo after sensitive team information went public.

Not what you want to read if you’re a 76ers fan, but that being said, the 76ers could still dismiss Big Collar if they think his public credibility is in the tank and detrimental to their potential plans this offseason. Also, there’s still the angle of his wife possibly being the mystery person recklessly sounding off on Twitter.

Not to make the day any worse for Philly, but Colangelo was present for a draft workout headlined by Grayson Allen. Read into that what you will.

Keeping Colangelo and drafting Allen at No. 26 is likely the ultimate lose-lose scenario here.
