Johnny Football Saw His First CFL Action Last Night

We got a little taste of Johnny in a real game scenario back in early-April when he played in those two Spring League games, but I think last night’s debut can be called his official return. The Spring League is fine and we got to see flashes of vintage Johnny, but now he’s in a real league and we can start taking these appearances a little more serious, even it was only preseason game #1 last night.
We all know he’s not the Hamilton Ticats starter (yet) and apparently won’t be the starter in week 1 no matter what (the starter is Jeremiah Masoli, which is a name I haven’t heard since like 2009), but if this first appearance is any indication, I’m not sure how long that can last.

He came in late in the 2nd quarter and finished out the half, then played the entire 3rd quarter. Got no TDs under his belt, but he did put up a solid 9-12, 80-yards line.

We got to see a flash of what used to tear up SEC defenses.

Overall a solid performance in Football’s CFL debut. Now, I’m not going to be updating every little thing Johnny does in the CFL from here on out, but this kind of felt like a big moment going under the radar a little bit. Johnny Manziel is playing professional football again. Sit back and think about that after everything that has happened these last two years or so. Pretty wild.
I’m going to need to see him slide into that starting role sooner rather than later.

He’s clearly not here to play games
