We’re at the point of spring training where every team starts bubble wrapping their star players for the 162-game grind, right? Like these guys have already played 30 meaningless baseball games — enough is enough especially if you’re a cursed team like the Mets. Or do more players need to go the way of Justin Turner and Madison Bumgarner and get injured on fluke plays?
The Arizona Diamondbacks nearly fell victim to spring training misfortune Sunday afternoon when their perennial All Star, Paul Goldschmidt, was hit in the head during a minor-league game:
Scary sight as Paul Goldschmidt gets hit straight in the head on a pitch during the minor league game…. Fortunately looks as though he is okay… #DbacksSpring #Goldy #SpringTraining2018 @Dbacks pic.twitter.com/64bA6CDIMc

Fortunately the Diamondbacks and their fans can rest easy as Goldschmidt said he was okay after the incident:

The spring training injury list beyond Turner and Bumgarner is an expansive one…
— Kenley Jansen (hammy)
— Zack Greinke (groin)
— Greg Bird (foot)
— Most of the Seattle Mariners
— Troy Tulowitzki (probably everything)
— Drew Pomeranz (shoulder)
No need to list any more as the point stands: spring training sucks.
