New Browns general manager John Dorsey has 4-5 quarterbacks that are “in the discussion” at No. 1 overall, according to our friend Mary Kay Cabot. Sam Darnold, Josh Rosen, Josh Allen and Baker Mayfield are all in a race to see which one really wants to save the Browns franchise – or not. Many believe Rosen is a snokeflake and would crumble in Cleveland. Some believe Darnold could have ice water in his veins and that would be good when the Browns are out of it in late October and he’ll fit right in with the oncoming winter weather. Allen’s big hands are enticing to the Browns and Mayfield just needs to get over the bad boy image.
In other words, the Browns are pretty much where they were on Tuesday with this big decision — they don’t actually know a thing, but Mayfield hasn’t been kicked out.

Browns legend Joe Thomas has a different opinion on how things should go. Go get Kirk Cousins, draft Saquon Barkley and defense in the first round. Is all the 4-5 QBs “in the discussion” just smoke and mirrors on the Cousins front?
Browns Joe Thomas tells @GolicAndWingo he would have #Browns sign Kirk Cousins in free agency, draft Saquon Barkley No. 1 & best defensive player No. 4.

Let’s go back to Dorsey’s draft history from Mary Kay’s article:
“In 2013, I had the first pick in the draft with the Kansas City Chiefs, and there really wasn’t a quarterback prospect there,” Dorsey told cleveland.com and a small group of reporters here. “Actually in this class there are four to five prospects that make you think at least are they worthy of that position. So now I think what you do is you let the process unfold.”
Dorsey selected Central Michigan offensive tackle Eric Fisher No. 1 overall in that lean quarterback year, and he’s still the Chiefs’ starting left tackle. The first quarterback chosen was EJ Manuel by the Bills at No. 16, and he proved to be a bust. He’s gone 6-11 and is currently a Raiders backup. The Browns selected Bakrevious Mingo No. 6 that year.
And ever the poker player, Dorsey added:
“Do I think it’s a good (QB) class?” said Dorsey. “I do.”
The fun part here is that the Browns will likely take a quarterback, Browns fans will think it was one of the best drafts in the last 30 years and they’re going to the playoffs. Like I always say, Browns fans celebrate the Super Bowl in April.
