Damon Kecman, some guy who blogs and podcasts about the winless Browns went after Baker Mayfield today over his late arrival at the Senior Bowl and insinuated that Baker’s “family matter” reasoning was just a cover for wanting to avoid giving up a height and weight (listed at 6’1″, 220 by Oklahoma) measurement. Bold move by Kecman.
And answered by Mayfield.
Showing up late? What would you do if your mom had gone to the hospital? Get outta here. Family before myself always.

Of course that reply hit Kecman’s notifications and then it was on from there. Kecman came back with the apology, but the power move here would’ve been to stand by his statement. That’s what a Screamin’ A. would’ve done. No balls on Kecman. Make Mayfield prove it and make a name for yourself.
Nope, full apology mode.

Meanwhile, Mayfield’s height and weight were on the minds of guys who track this stuff. Here I am just trying to figure out if Mayfield will run away from brooms at some point before the draft. That’s how I gauge a quarterback. I can’t trust a QB if he can’t avoid a guy with a broom that’s not going to actually hit him with the broom.
I assume all of this will be settled at the Combine where we should also get a hand size.
Did Sr Bowl staff announce a height/weight on Mayfield before North practice? Phil usually does that on guys who missed the weigh in
