It’s been almost 2 years to the day since Johnny Manziel strapped up and played in a football game. That was December 27th, 2015 (the Browns lost that day). Since then, Johnny has gotten engaged, quit Twitter, and has basically gone totally dark on social media outside of a few IG posts.
But it’s about time John Football made his return and the first steps to making that happen started today when the CFL commish cleared him to play in 2018.

Now all he has to do is negotiate a deal with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats and he’s officially back.
CFL announces it would approve Manziel contract should one be negotiated with Hamilton Tiger-Cats, who own Manziel's rights in Canada. #CFL

While all the details of the new XFL get ironed out, the CFL is a perfect place for Johnny to get his Doug Flutie on. He can go in there, light up the league for a season or two, get ESPN a nice little CFL ratings boost over the summer, and then maybe a desperate NFL team will come calling. Or he can always go be Vince McMahon’s face of the league whenever he gets that off the ground.
The options are here now. #ComebackSZN is real. Now it’s all on Johnny.
Ticats now have 10 days to make an offer to Johnny Manziel. If Manziel doesn't get one from Ticats or isn't dealt to another team by Jan. 7, he'll become a free agent. Should Ticats make an offer to Manziel and it's rejected, he'll remain on their neg list for another year.
