According to the current owner, he selling because he has five cars and a four-car garage, which leaves Ernest’s restored Impala out in the elements. Super first world problem, but we respect it.

Details from the eBay listing:

This vehicle went through an extensive, complete restoration. Looks, runs, and drives like new. A fabulous example of the rare, full size Impala Convertibles. The body is excellent and is accident and rust free. 427 Big Block Engine. I encourage you to go to YouTube and type in 1969 Impala w/hydros. It will be the first car to come up and is very much worth the 3:30 of your time. This whip belonged to a former Jacksonville Jaguars NFL receiver who was said to have put $60-$70K into the build. I believe he may have been overcharged a bit, but when the Miami Dolphins give you a free agent $6 million dollar signing bonus, I’m not sure he was too worried about it. Rebuilt front to back and top to bottom. Built engine. Serpentine system. New Edelbrock Carburetor and air cleaner since pictures were taken. New HEI distributor and plug wires added too. Just tuned up. Painted dash. Digital Dash. Stereo system. Full leather interior and suede inserts. New carpeting throughout. Top of the line German Canvas Top w/glass back window. New gas tank. Dual exhaust with new Flowmasters. New 20″ rims and tires with just under 1,000 miles. New Optima battery. Custom paint with pinstripe. This car is a beast. If you’re wondering about the color scheme it’s because the owner played college ball at Virginia Tech. Stunning and tastefully done.

No bids have been placed with four days remaining in the auction.

Ernest scored 15 touchdowns and racked up 2,145 yards in seven seasons with the Jacksonville Jaguars and Miami Dolphins. He’s now a police officer with the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.
